Hospital Future Act

The German Bundestag passed the Hospital Future Act (KHZG) on September 18, 2020, which was confirmed in the Bundesrat on October 9, 2020 with additional demands. From January 1, 2021, 4 billion euros will be made available to strengthen the emergency capacities and IT infrastructure in health care. The sponsors can immediately start implementing their projects and register their funding needs. The funding can amount to up to 85% per project. Even the planning and required staff are eligible. In addition, the federal government separately supports the additional costs resulting from COVID measures on construction sites. See here which projects can be applied for as examples:

Emergency room technology and IT technology

KHZG §19 (1), Paragraph 1 "the adaptation of the technical and in particular the information technology equipment of the emergency room of a hospital to the current state of the art."

Examples: Call and waiting room management, pavilion for CORONA / fever ambulance as an extension, modernization of ventilation technology, use of mobile air pollution control devices, installation of permanent hygienic protection walls ("spit protection"), mobile patient data acquisition (tablet on the ambulance or in the follow-up service of the ZNA for patient data acquisition)

Conversion of patient rooms and bathrooms

KHZG §19 (1), Paragraph 11 "Project to adapt patient rooms to the special treatment requirements in the event of an epidemic, in particular by converting rooms with more than two beds into single or double rooms, provided the project leads to a corresponding reduction in the number who leads hospitalized beds. "

Examples: renovation measures, modernization of patient rooms, retrofitting of hygiene protection, retrofitting of room-related bathrooms, access control systems, signage, shutdown costs

Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS)

KHZG §19 (1), Paragraph 4 "the establishment of partially or fully automated clinical decision support systems that support clinical service providers with the aim of increasing the quality of care when making treatment decisions through automated information and recommendations,"

Examples: Diagnostic decision support system (DDSS) eg radiology, case-based reasoning system (CBRS), servers, end devices, software

Digital medication management

KHZG §19 (1), Paragraph 5 "the establishment of a continuous digital medication management to increase drug therapy safety, which provides information on all drug-related treatments over the entire treatment process in the hospital; these facilities also include robot-based control systems for dispensing medication, "

Examples: order entry systems, automatic drug interaction testing, packaging robots, clean rooms, modernization of ventilation technology, software, end devices
